Temperatures are cooling down and pumpkin spice is in the air; it is officially feeling like fall. According to the 2024 Fall Foliage Prediction Map, leaves are already starting to change in central Indiana and will reach peak colors Oct. 28.
Try these spots across campus to see the red, yellow and orange colors:
- Look for the line of red maples along Barnhill Drive.
- Drive along West New York Street to enjoy the color from the oak trees lining the street.
- Stop by Wood Fountain, which is surrounded by trees that turn a golden yellow.
- Visit the Lilly ARBOR for colorful trees and a walking trail.
- Check out the sugar and red maples near the parking garage on Michigan Street.
- Lockfield Green, near North Hall, also has a beautiful mix of fall colors.
You can also enjoy the fall foliage at these Indianapolis parks:
Eagle Creek Park: Located at 7840 W. 56th St., Eagle Creek Park is a 16-minute drive from campus. Walk the trails, see wildlife and relax along the reservoir. Entrance to the park costs $6 per vehicle for Marion county residents.
Fort Harrison State Park: Enjoy the forest at Fort Harrison State Park on 6000 N. Post Road, a 28-minute drive from campus. There are trails, picnic sites and more. Entrance to the park is $7 per vehicle with in-state license plates and $9 for out-of-state plates.
