From the campus’s name to food options and lounge spaces, there are a lot of new additions and changes that students, faculty and staff will notice as classes get back in session this fall.

IU Indianapolis

Now that the campus has officially become IU Indianapolis, signage has been updated with the new name and cream-and-crimson branding. Even the roof design on the Campus Center received a facelift.

Jaguar Junction

More changes were made inside the Campus Center as well.

The Crimson Card Office, Parking and Transportation Office and UITS Technical Support are now all in one place, called Jaguar Junction, in Suite 205 on the second floor of the Campus Center. This space was formerly held by the Indiana Members Credit Union, which has moved around the corner to Suite 217.

New food options

  • A new Tex-Mex restaurant, Copperhead Jack's, will serve tacos, burritos and quesadillas this fall. • An Indianapolis favorite, Tea’s Me Cafe, will be replacing the IU Indy Café (Starbucks) in the Campus Center this fall. The local brand, run by WNBA Hall of Famer Tamika Catchings, offers a variety of teas sourced from around the world.
  • Einstein Bros Bagels is moving into the Campus Center. Previously in the ICTC building, the bagel and coffee spot will be on the second floor of the Campus Center next to Caribou Coffee. A new Market location will open in Einstein’s old location at ICTC with fresh coffee and grab-and-go items.
  • A new Market location will also be opening at the School of Dentistry. Starbucks coffee and a variety of snacks and pastries will be available for purchase.
  • Located on the second floor of University Tower, the Den by Denny’s is bringing back its full menu. Specialty burgers and chicken sandwiches will also be offered every month. Plus, ordering is easier with new kiosks and the Boost mobile ordering app.

Coming soon: ESports Gaming Lounge

A state-of-the-art ESports Gaming Lounge will be ready for competitions in spring 2025. It will replace the Game Room on the theater level of the Campus Center. That space is currently closed for renovation, and the pool tables have moved to Suite 301 on the third floor of the Campus Center, to create a Billiards Lounge. Billiards equipment and other games can be checked out using the RecRe Box outside the space for free.

The table tennis tables have also been relocated to Jaguar Campus Recreation.

The Quiet Lounge, which was formerly in Suite 301, has been moved to Suite 340 and includes new furniture and additional seating.

Reimagining Democracy Plaza

During the fall semester, a task force composed of students, faculty and staff will be established to evaluate the mission of Democracy Plaza and its two locations in the Campus Center and the Business/SPEA building breezeway. The task force will propose a new format or structure for both locations that are educationally informative, thought provoking, engaging, inviting and inclusive

All members of the IU Indianapolis community are invited to share feedback about Democracy Plaza, which will be considered by task force members as they complete their work.

University Tower renovations

Many rooms in University Tower got an upgrade this summer. Students on floors 6, 8, 9 and 10 will already see the new look with new flooring, paint, blackout curtains and bathroom finishes.

Floors 3, 4, 5, and 7 will get the same renovations in summer 2025.

Changes to JagLine routes

With the completion of the Cultural Trail expansion along Indiana Avenue, some JagLine routes will include additional stops. The biggest changes are for the Route 3 Yellow and Route 4 Blue routes.

You can track the JagLine and see all of the stops with the IU Mobile app or JagLine online tracker.
